Slings Slings are the most visible component of our overhead monorail systems. They are the containers which enable us to store and route goods, leaving critical floor space uncluttered. All sling frames (if required) are fabricated from cold-drawn steel tube which is zinc-plated for a durable finish. Even the fabric is special. E-RAIL slings are made to exacting specifications. If the fabric is too flimsy, the sling will wear out rapidly. If the fabric is too heavy and stiff, the automatic features of the sling are compromised. More Than Just a Bag An E-RAIL sling does much more than move product. It is an integral part of the material handling system. Slings help classify loads and control load size. The identity of the items in a sling can be tracked by E-TECH’s RailPro controls and used to route the slings. Automated systems require slings that can be opened and closed without operator interface. The mechanisms for these functions are built into the slings and specifically designed to work with E-RAIL openers and closers. Only E-TECH slings have the precision and durability to function effectively with automated E-RAIL systems. Slings can be loaded in a number of different ways depending on the needs of the facility. The top sling ring and trolley is configured to work hand-in-hand with the loading method. For example, in low head-room sorting the frame of the sling is rectangular and fits accurately with the sorting deflector. A clean side sling that is receiving a large load usually has a round upper frame and two four-wheel trolleys to handle the heavier load. A manually loaded sling may not need a sling frame at all. Designed to Work When Full and When Em In a closed-loop monorail system, careful consideration must be given to the empty sling. To prevent empty slings from taking up too much valuable space, rigid top slings must be stored in a “stacked” position. Unlike the high maintenance, complicated collapsing mechanisms of others, E-RAIL rigid-top slings are counterbalanced to nest together with the built-in gravity of the system. Dual trolley slings also nest in this way when they are stored on two parallel rails. The high-visibility workhorse of an E-TECH
system, our slings combine quality and functionality to keep E-RAIL
the system that works.
