Stops and Indexers

When gravity drives a system, there is no “off” switch for the power.  Rugged, reliable stops and indexers are essential to control speed and movement throughout the monorail system.

Other Systems Just Aren’t Tough Enough!

Flimsy, thin (even plastic) drop links used in other systems can’t match the strength and longevity of E-TECH stops and indexers. Beyond controlling individual sling movement, multiple slings lined up in storage put a great deal of pressure on an indexer.  Imagine the Colorado River behind the Hoover Dam and you can see the importance of a hardy, rugged indexer.

After the Stop, You’ve Got to Get Going Again

A steel pin is pneumatically pushed through a sleeve in the E-RAIL and stops a trolley.   Back-stop devices capture the trolley after it impacts the pin. When the pin is retracted, the trolley is released with positive gravity flow.  This means movement can continue automatically without operator interaction.  A steel sleeve and hardened rail section provide an ultra-tough surface capable of handling hundreds of cycles each day.

It’s Not Just Stopping a Trolley; It’s Which Part of the Trolley You Stop

Other monorail systems stop movement by impacting the wheels.  This can result in damaged wheels that won’t roll easily.  Not so with E-RAIL.  Our stops contact the body or frame of a trolley - never the wheel.

A Star Performer in E-RAIL Automation

Stops control one trolley.  Indexers are designed to control two slings - with one or two trolleys each - and provide the metering control required in automated systems.  Stops and indexers can be equipped with sensors to signal the presence of a trolley.  Actuation of the stops and indexers can be accomplished through manual- or solenoid-operated valves.  Totally automated RAILPRO control is possible using these sensors and solenoid valves.

Engineering, Integration, and Execution

Like all E-RAIL components, our stops and indexers are designed to be an integral part of the most reliable systems available.  E-TECH invites you to take a closer look at E-RAIL. You’ll like what you see.
